"Olivia" is 55, a retired corporate executive who has been married for 10 years.
"I waited for the right man, and boy did I get him!" says Olivia, chuckling.
As happy as she is, she found that her sexual desire was diminishing dramatically.
"I started perimenopause the minute I turned 40, I went through menopause at 46 and was on a lot of different medications. Every year I had a little less sexual desire. Recently my husband was going through the death of a close relative, and his desire was getting less and less. I realized wow, I'd better do something about it," Olivia says.
She spoke with her gynecologist, who had little advice to offer, and then turned to a sex therapist, who recommended the Women's Center.
She found going to the Center to be a positive experience. "They are very nice and very supportive. They really show that they care and you really don't find that in many places at all," Olivia says.
A workup revealed that Olivia had little estrogen or testosterone. "Right away I went on the testosterone cream, and it worked really quickly.
"I put a little on the inside of my upper thigh once a day. A little tube lasts a week each time and there are basically no side effects. Very little hair grows in that area, but you shave there anyway, so it's not an issue. I noticed a little hair loss on my eyelashes, that was it," Olivia says.
The cream has definitely improved her sex drive.
"It has increased my libido. We're enjoying our newly revitalized sexual life, and so we're very happy. There are no issues any more," Olivia says.
"I recommend getting help like this to anyone," Olivia says. "There is help out there and you don't have to live with it as long as I did."
