Hormones and Sex

The hormones which have the greatest affect on women’s sexual functioning are: estrogen, testosterone and DHEA-s. Other hormones can impact as well; progesterone or prolactin for instance. In our experience at our Center we see a clear link between raising low hormone levels and strengthening a woman’s libido, her ability to become aroused and the quality of her orgasms. Women for whom low hormones play a significant role in their dysfunction can benefit greatly from hormone therapy and may have a hard time being helped without them.

Low sex drive may have pysiological causes, especially if it comes mixed in with menopausal symptoms, lethargy or low mood. Hormones may be an important component a specialist who understands bio-identical hormones can treat you accordingly.
