The Medical Center for Female Sexuality’s
Growth Led to Her Promotion
PURCHASE, NY – Melissa Ferrara, family nurse practitioner (FNP) from White Plains, NY, has been named as the associate medical director for The Medical Center for Female Sexuality. Her promotion is directly related to the expansive growth the Center has experienced.
The Medical Center for Female Sexuality is the only treatment center of its kind in the tri-state area. It incorporates both medical and psychological treatments to address a variety of sexual complaints including low desire, low arousal, pain, orgasm problems and problems with lubrication.
Since the Center has experienced such steady growth, Ferrara’s responsibilities have grown. In response to this growth, the new position of associate medical director was developed. In her new position, Ferrara is responsible for overseeing patient treatment and supervising all clinical trials conducted within the Center.
“As we have grown, Melissa has become more and more responsible for the medical aspects of the Center,” said Bat Sheva Marcus, LMSW, MPH, PhD, clinical director for the Center. “We wanted to recognize her devotion to her patients and allow her to expand within the organization.”
“Melissa has been a great addition to our practice,” said Michael A. Werner, MD, medical director. “Her compassionate nature and medical expertise have allowed her to help hundreds of patients lead happier, healthier lives.”
Ferrara has extensive experience in the women’s health field. Prior to joining the Center in 2003, she was a clinician for Planned Parenthood for 6 years. Ferrara earned a B.S. in biology from Siena College. She earned a B.S. in nursing and an M.S. as a family nurse practitioner from Pace University. She lives in White Plains, NY with her husband Stephen and her children Anna and Joseph.
The Medical Center for Female Sexuality (MCFS) is one of only a few sexual treatment centers in the country to integrate a medical and psychological treatment modality. A medical and psychological team works to evaluate the issues that might be of concern to the patient. Since the MCFS is a medical practice, the treatments are generally covered by most insurance companies. The MCFS can be found on the Internet at www.centerforfemalesexuality.com.
