UNIQUE WOMEN’S CLINIC OFFERS SPECIAL TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR DISTANT PATIENTS

Patients from Across the Country
Can Now Obtain Cutting-edge Sexual Dysfunction Treatment

PURCHASE, NY – The Medical Center for Female Sexuality has introduced a new intensive treatment program for patients who live outside of the traditional Westchester, NY commuting distance. The center has been on the cutting-edge of sexual dysfunction treatment since its founding in 2000. This one-of-a-kind treatment program is now available to patients from across the country to provide relief for sexual concerns.

“Many people contact us from all corners of the U.S., trying to determine if they can undergo treatment at our center. Women sometimes tell me we are their last hope,” said Bat Sheva Marcus, L.M.S.W., M.P.H, clinical director of the center. “We wanted to develop a program to help these people. Our traditional treatment program requires numerous trips to our offices on an ongoing basis. We have adapted our treatment programs to allow patients to travel for concentrated visits, limiting the number of trips required.”

Different treatment programs have been developed to address different issues, with visit requirements ranging from three days to two weeks. Concerns with low desire, low arousal and orgasm problems typically require a three-day visit with two additional one-day visits throughout the year for monitoring. Concerns with vaginismus, vulvydina, vulvar vestibulitus, and other symptoms of pain require extended treatment. This usually spans months. The revised treatment allows a patient to condense treatment to allow for a two to three-week visit to the center.

Since every patient is treated individually, a phone consultation with Marcus is required before any distant patient schedules an appointment. This allows for preliminary evaluation as well as pre-patient planning for the visit. In addition, the center will help with hotel reservations and entertainment. Since the center is a medical practice, visits may be covered by insurance. Patients should check to determine their out of area coverage.

Bat Sheva Marcus, LMSW, MPH, is clinical director of The Medical Center for Female Sexuality. She is a licensed social worker with a master’s degree from Columbia University. She also holds a master’s degree in public health from the Institute of Advanced Study of Human Sexuality and is currently a doctoral candidate, writing her dissertation on vibrator use in women.

The Medical Center for Female Sexuality is one of the only sexual treatment centers in the country to integrate a medical and psychological treatment modality. A medical and psychological team works to evaluate the issues that might be of concern to the patient. Since the MCFS is a medical practice, the treatments are generally covered by most insurance companies. The MCFS can be found on the Internet at www.centerforfemalesexuality.com.
