Orgasm Glossary: Terms Related to Ogasm & Sexual Dysfunction

The inability to achieve orgasm through vaginal, oral or manual stimulation.

The physical and emotional sensation experienced at the peak of sexual excitation, usually resulting from stimulation of the sexual organ. Also known as a climax.

Orgasmic Dysfunction

The impairment of an individual’s ability to reach orgasm or to experience a full and satisfying orgasm.

Primary Anorgasmia

A life-long inability to achieve orgasm through vaginal, oral or manual stimulation.

Secondary Anorgasmia

A sudden or gradual onset of the inability to achieve orgasm through vaginal, oral or manual stimulation.

Secondary Orgasmic Dysfunction

Another term for Secondary Anorgasma.

Vaginal Orgasm

Although all orgasms appear to emanate from the clitoral nerves, there are some woman (30%) who are able to orgasm through vaginal intercourse alone (that is, without additional manual or vibrator stimulation.) Additionally, some women will describe the orgasm they experience while having intercourse as more intense or more satisfying than an orgasm experienced without simultaneous vaginal stimulation.
