This educational resource guide focuses on female sexual dysfunction (FSD). This guide was created by a task force of women’s health experts to increase awareness and provide support on the topic of Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) for ob-gyns.

The goal of this guide is to provide proper assessment methods and treatments, as well as promote the importance of sensitive and honest patient provider dialogue.

The educational content for this guide was shaped by a recent survey of ob-gyns, literature review and task force consensus.

Women often depend on their ob-gyn for sexual health issues as the only health care provider they may see on an annual or regular basis.

You should be open to assessing and managing a variety of sexual dysfunction conditions within their practice. If needed, you can also serve as an important source for referring women to appropriate services.

Due to the complex nature of FSD and a myriad of factors that may result in the inability of a patient to fully express her sexuality, ob-gyns may prefer a team approach that incorporates referral to and consultation with other specialty providers.

This document serves to guide best practices for discussing and assisting patients with Female Sexual Dysfunction.
